A tale of longevity
posted by admin
Here’s a tale of longevity: This board was made eight years ago. It’s a standard poly construction, but made with care and attention to detail. It was from the time just after Clark Foam had closed their doors suddenly and unexpectedly; leaving 80% of the worlds board builders without foam. I had ordered a container of Burford blanks from Australia so I had a stock of foam to make it through the drought until new suppliers could step into the gap (thank you God for your mercies towards us). So this board was made with Ozzy foam and we glassed it with direct size glass and a 3/4 patch of S-glass. It was a new prototype shape I was working on...

Supernatural Flow & Raw Aggression
posted by admin
I’ve been watching old Andy clips lately and wondering what it would be like if he was still around; if he had continued his progression and what he would be surfing like today. And then I had a vision and saw as if through a glass darkly what that would look like, and that’s when I saw in the vision this board. It is a cross-between; a bridge; a joining of dichotomies from the two ends of the spectrum: *supernatural flow …and *raw aggression. Nowadays it seems too often that I see choreographed, over-coached, graphed out surfing that has been so mechanized and broken down into formula that the divine mystery of spontaneous...

Birth of a Board Model
posted by admin
People often ask me, “Where do your ideas come from for new board models? Do you decide to create a new board just for the heck of it? Why do you have so many different board models?” Well, here is the short story of one particular board ‘Da Monsta’, which has been and continues to be one of my most popular designs. I think it explains well that question … at its root, the simple reason, is to fill a need for a certain type of surfer; a certain kind of wave … to create something that will bless people in a very specific sort of way. Here is the story of ‘Da Monsta’: For me, each new board idea grows from relationship; and sometimes...
